Myopia in Singapore

The percentage of population in Singapore with myopia is high as compared to the rest of the world and is ranked high in the East Asia region. 20% of children are myopic when starting their primary school education. By the time they graduate from university, approximately 80% are myopic.

I was a myopic and now have perfect vision all thanks to the advancement of technology - LASIK. I have "lazy eyes" with high astigmatism and all taken away by performing lasik surgery in Singapore.

LASIK stands for Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis. In laymen term it means using laser to zap away myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism. In scientific term, it translates to using laser to improve the refractive state of the cornea with the eye in its natural environment.

There are plenty of lasik surgery clinics in Singapore and they use difference machine and also difference technology with different pricing. There are plenty of advertisements in newspaper with faces of pretty girls smiling at you and it can be difficult and confusing to decide which clinic to go to. At the end of the day, I just want my vision corrected, with as little side effect as possible and with less money spent. And I believe you share the same view as me.
